Extraordinarily all these dishes at the 2 Michelin-starred @ladamedepiclondon were served with alcohol-free drinks. And you know what? They worked as well as wine would have done and if anything respected the delicacy and airy texture of @annesophiepic’s food even more. (OK champagne would have been good too!). My favourite pairing was this dish of crab with @labrewery’s citrus kombucha (click link in my profile for the lowdown) but that dish of sea bass and caviar is something else. Not cheap obvs but if you were looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion that could offer good alcohol-free drinks it would be perfect. (Note a couple of the dishes involve alcohol though I’m sure the kitchen would be able to offer an alternative if you asked them. #guest . . . #crab #alcoholfree #soberlife #seabass #caviar #michelin #ladamedepicOne of the highlights of this week’s scoffing with my pal @fionasims was this salt cod hash aka bacalhau à brás @bardouro in @flatironsquareuk in London. Which was basically a mash-up of salt cod and matchstick fries - comfort food of the highest order. It went brilliantly well with this slightly smoky Portuguese white - Bar Douro has a really interesting list which it also sells online. I also loved this light gamay-ish red Ginga and this dinky little mushroom pie which you won’t want to share (so don’t).
