One of the areas of food and drink pairing I’m always trying to crack is soft drinks - so it’s good to find an inspired match that really hits the spot - not too sweet as most soft drinks are for me.
There are two good reasons for eating at The Barbary. One is the Jerusalem bagel, a wondrous piece of baking. Served warm from the oven, encrusted in spicy sesame seeds it must be the best bread roll in town.
Two of my favourite cookbooks over the last couple of years have been Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich of Honey & Co's Food from the Middle East and The Baking Book so I've been hugely looking forward to their new book Honey & Co: At Home. Their recipes, which you can also find in the FT, are not just drop-dead delicious but reassuringly (and unusually for chefs!) actually work.
