Apart from eating myself silly in São Paulo I managed to fit in visits to four museums and galleries including the Pinocoteca whose building is as beautiful as its brilliantly curated exhibits. Also the Afro museum, the museum of art (MASP) and the IMS (Instituto Moreira Salles). São Paulo is worth visiting for these alone. . . . #art #artgallery #museum #paintings #pinocotecaHaven’t had much room for dessert on this trip which is ironic given the fabled Brazilian sweet tooth but here are two at @balaioims in the institute Moreira Salles - the second more casual restaurant of one of the city’s leading chefs, @rodrigomocoto. Brazil’s take on îles flottantes but made with coconut with a crunchy coconut crumble on the side (SO good) and one made with yellow fruits including pequi, caja sorbet and passion fruit pulp. Also a wonderful fish dish made from arapaima which comes from the Amazon. Really bold flavour, beautifully presented. Brazilian food rocks. The food especially the sea urchin temaki and soft warm smoky sea urchin nigiri I was too overexcited to snap were off the scale, the skill in fashioning them mesmerising. Thanks @andreldeluca for a very special treat. . . . #japanesefood #sushi #sashimi #nigiri #temaki #saopauloOne of the most iconic dishes of Brazilian cuisine is Moqueca, an aromatic seafood stew made with red dendé oil and coconut milk and served with rice and farofa (of course) for extra crunch plus an optional drizzle of chilli oil.
