Managed to fit in another of Brazil’s iconic dishes, bobo, into the last full day of my trip thanks to my wonderful guide @jpparaty. This one, at @quiosquesaofrancisco, was shrimp-based, like many dishes on the coast and basically like a moqueca but thicker. Also addictive pasteis (shrimp again and hearts of palm) and the compulsory caipirinha. Despite the variations I still like the classic ones best. Oh when it rains in Brazil it POURS! Also the Afro museum, the museum of art (MASP) and the IMS (Instituto Moreira Salles). São Paulo is worth visiting for these alone. . . . #art #artgallery #museum #paintings #pinocotecaHaven’t had much room for dessert on this trip which is ironic given the fabled Brazilian sweet tooth but here are two at @balaioims in the institute Moreira Salles - the second more casual restaurant of one of the city’s leading chefs, @rodrigomocoto. Brazil’s take on îles flottantes but made with coconut with a crunchy coconut crumble on the side (SO good) and one made with yellow fruits including pequi, caja sorbet and passion fruit pulp. Also a wonderful fish dish made from arapaima which comes from the Amazon. Really bold flavour, beautifully presented. Brazilian food rocks.
