@bar44tapas very superior sherry snacks for last night’s ‘sherrytastic’ Instagram tasting with me and @sherrymonster44. Paired with sherries from @gonzalezbyassuk. Tio Pepe fino with marinated gordal olives and Marcona almonds. Tio Pepe fino en Rama with boquerones (sherry vinegar cured Cadiz anchovies). viña AB amontillado with wild boar and truffle salchichon and marinated artichoke. Leonor palo cortado with 12 month cured manchego and dried fig. Alfonso oloroso with roast piquillo pepper and oak smoked Galician cecina. And Nectar Pedro Ximinez with Bar 44 chocolate truffle and Asturias blue cheese. My favourite pairing? It was a close call between the palo cortado and manchego and the PX and chocolate truffle but I LOVE palo cortado so that inched it. And being #englishwineweek maybe a glass of Bacchus on the side. With @petersyard sourdough crispbread rather than bread it makes a lovely light summery lunch. Reckon we too often think of cheese in the context of a cheeseboard rather than savouring it on its own with the perfect food or wine accompaniment. Cheesy peas reimagined! .
