Lovely late summer lunch yesterday at one of my favourite London restaurants @brawn49. Pitch-perfect vitello tonnato with wonderfully tender rose veal followed by a fiery southern-Italian style spaghetti with squid. In fact the whole menu has got more Italian: our wine - a deep-coloured Vino di Anna rosato from Sicily - was too.
Sunlight streaming through the windows, endlessly entertaining company from @trevorgulliver and flawless unfussy cooking from owner Ed Wilson who is one of the best chefs in town. What’s not to love? Go!

I have found the ultimate Emergency Kitten. Her name is Shiso aka @shiso_the_cat and she belongs to my pal @signesjohansen and her husband @gomungo. She is just RIDICULOUSLY cute and fluffy - just look at those tufts on her paws 😻
We just sat and gawped at her and talked about her to the exclusion of anything else which is A Good Thing when you think how many shitty things are going on in the world at the moment. Best kitten EVER.

Yesterday’s expedition to @theethicurean to pick up some pottery bowls I’d bought from their kitchen sale (see last shot) turned into a richly rewarding walk round their heavenly garden. September is always a good time to visit because of the orchards but yesterday was particularly stunning. They’re closing in a week for a refurb (exciting news to follow) so take advantage and wander round. Somerset at its best.
