First dive into @ruby.tandoh’s Cook As You Are with her carrot, lemon and tahini soup. I so agree with Ruby’s intro to the recipe: “I don’t know what it is about soup that inspires so much uncertainty among my otherwise kitchen-savvy friends. I know people who can make a lasagne from scratch but ask them to make soup and they freeze”. Well, not quite in my case but I certainly lack inspiration so was really pleased to find this riff on the standard carrot soup (made with a stick blender so not too boringly smooth). It’s definitely the time of year we need soup in our lives so I’m determined to do more experimenting this winter. Silly question maybe - let’s rephrase that! Do you take the trouble to search out and try cheeses from small artisan cheesemakers? Well @pipersfarm does which is why I’ve worked with them to recommend drink matches for their lovely cheese boxes. I say drink cos they’re not all red wine which is what we instinctively reach for with cheese. Paid partnership with Pipers FarmSo very lucky to have got to see the @yayoikusama_ exhibition at the Tate Modern. Was it enhanced by tasting/drinking @veuveclicquot La Grand Dame first? Quite possibly but it really was spellbinding. Kusama’s story is extraordinary too. She’s lived in a psychiatric hospital since the 1970s and is still creating installations in her 90s. Sadly it’s booked solid until the exhibition closes in March but hopefully there’s a film about her out there somewhere.
