As the best summer for a barbeque for some years it’s been a frustrating time for us flat-dwellers but when I was sent some fresh sardines* the other day I knew I was going to have to find some way to grill them outside if the flat wasn’t going to smell of fish for days.

Absolutely genius idea of steak and chips as bowl food but lots of other delicious things including sour cherry negronis which I forgot to photograph 🙄. Thanks to generous wine donors @santatresa and @lescavesdepyrene for providing delicious wines including this light Sicilian Frappato which is perfect for this time of year. To the @guardianfeast crew for putting up with me for all those years and to all my brilliant pals in the industry who came along. Have also been incredibly touched by the lovely messages on here since I announced I was leaving.
