Rustled up a batch of wild cherry cordial from my forthcoming book* last night from some cherries a chef friend brought round from his allotment. One of my FAVOURITE soft drinks.

I never used to think of myself as a feminist. I thought those battles had been fought and won but after recent events including the manhandling (literally) of a peaceful protester by a Government minister Mark Field the other day It’s impossible to ignore the fact that men will still use their physical superiority to control women when it suits them. Women of all ages should feel safe as they go about their day to day lives. Other women - and decent, responsible fair-minded men of which there are many - must stand up for them. It’s the 21st century - let’s not go backwards @untameableshrews .

So lovely to be invited to share a delicious lunch today cooked by @romygill and her remarkable dad. Thickly smothered spicy lamb chops (dad’s recipe) dal, potatoes with poppy seeds, green beans, squash and homemade mango chutney all served with perfect light chapattis cooked by Romy over an open flame. Is there a nicer way to eat than sitting round a family table? (Also got a sneak preview of her new book Zaika which comes out in September and which looks absolutely 💥💥)
