Not only did we celebrate the first of our Honey & Co Sunday wine clubs* yesterday but it also produced an outstanding match of the week: this savoury-sweet Palestinian chicken dish and a valpolicella ripasso.

If you’re on holiday in the wilds of nowhere chances are your only shop - in the UK at least - is a Spar. I would at one point have said that spelled death to the chance of a decent bottle of wine but was recently sent a selection which really wasn’t half bad.

Fascinating pairing of @disznokotokaj wines with different dishes from @ramekinsandwine. The 2013 Disznoko 5 puttonyos was predictably good with a rich chicken and duck liver pâté, but the spicy pulled pork was a revelation with the 1413 Edes Szamorodni. Good to push the boundaries with food and wine pairing though I suspect most of us would still serve it with a beer if we were making it for friends 😉 Not sure it worked with the Thai green aubergine and chickpea curry but that may be my personal taste . . .#tokaji #duckparfait #pulledpork #diznokoLovely to be back @caperandcure last night for the launch of their new menu which included this beautiful plate of Cornish seabream carpaccio with oyster mayo and blood orange, scallop with apple, crispy pork skin and asparagus and a lovely wobbly pannacotta with the first of the new season’s strawberries.
