Ideas for a beer and game menu
I've been invited to a game dinner at Brown's hotel in Mayfair next week at which every course is matched with a beer or a perry. I can't make it but thought you'd be interested in the pairings (my notes in italics):
Roast partridge on toasted sour dough with woodland mushrooms, with Kasteel Cru lager
Chargrilled Yorkshire venison liver and Lincolnshire onion sauce, with Worthington’s White Shield
Yorkshire grouse traditional, with Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beer (and Bookers ‘The Red Harvest’, an English red wine, which seems odd but maybe just for comparison)
Woodcock with Viru lager, and with Liefmans Kriek sour cherry beer (my money would be on the Kriek as the best pairing)
Baked rice pudding with Duvel (very ambitious - would love to try this!)
Stinking Bishop, with Turberfield ‘perry’ Royale (interesting choice as the rind of the cheese is washed with perry).
