Win a Coravin Model Two Elite wine access system worth £279

This month’s prize is the perfect present for a wine geek but any wine collector is going to want it for themselves.

It’s an incredibly ingenious device which enables you to extract a glass of wine from a bottle without pulling the cork and then continue to keep it without the wine deteriorating.

Why would that be useful? Because you can check how a wine is developing without wasting the rest of the bottle. The system works by inserting a fine hollow needle into the cork then withdrawing the wine under pressure from an argon gas capsule. Tricky - to explain but there’s a very clear video on the company website.

A number of top restaurants and wine bars such as Fera, Jason Atherton’s Social Wine & Tapas and, er hem, my son’s restaurant Hawksmoor are using it to enable their customers to taste wines they couldn’t otherwise afford to open - the new model is currently exclusively stocked in Harrods though will be available in other retailers from June.
