Hi Fiona. Interesting review of what sounds like an interesting restaurant, but not one I'm likely to visit. Just one little thing: Gordon Ramsay is £125 for Menu Prestige at the moment, so Bo has him beat. I hope he has many customers with very deep pockets!

Some as above, but do not count on the weather being hot! The last 2 wrtenis have been unusually cold in the South of France with heating required most evenings between November and March, Normally the only cold time is the last 2 weeks of January and the first 2 weeks of February. There is a quiet sheltered site at Alet-les-Bains but the shade keeps out the sun and it can be cold even during the day. There is another quite wonderful sit close to the old city in Carcassonne called Camping de la Citie. It has beautiful country side around and you are close to the beautiful medieval City of Carcassone. Restaurants etc re within a 15 minute walk. carcassonne-tourisme.com. Suggest you select a region/Town you would like to visit and check the Tourist Info Web SiteReferences : Live close by

Comment on The Quality Chop House: a very well-connected wine bar

I actually asked that! They said they'd run it by you and you'd pointed out a couple of gaps which they'd filled - but clearly with wines of their own choosing. It's the same with Hawksmoor - they firmly do their own thing and that's how it should be . . . (Good thing we have wine writing to keep us busy ;-)

Just been to our son's Quality Chop House for our first lunch and dinner and am astounded by how relatively few of the wines on the list I know - and by how little Will has consulted his parents on the whole enterprise.

Don't know whether to be proud of or offended by his 100% independent wine notes - which are rather good! The former I think on balance.

Actually I do (eat out in London often). I'm surprised that you think £40 for 2 - or even £28 for 2 - is reasonable for a rice dish. I certainly don't come across them that often at that price.

You obviously don't eat out in London very often? These prices sound reasonable enough to me. You also don't 'get' the vibe they are going for, which is fine as it obviously isn't aimed at you. You had your 'good' wine complimentary, and seemingly enjoyed your food. To be honest your 'review' doesn't really say anything about the place, so I would just suggest that it isn't for you. Stop being so 'disappointed'.

I'd say you'd spend around £40-£50 on food in the main restaurant - compared to which the bar looks a pretty good deal. So long as you don't go overboard on the cocktails ;-)

So maybe you should just stay in the bar after all.

I have eaten at La Tupina once each year for the past 9 . My last visit in April this year will be my last. Largely over priced wines, lost passion and a feeling that its best days have passed. Its a real pity as it was the one stop which we always held in glorious anticipation.
