Win a Coravin Model Two Elite wine access system worth £279

This month’s prize is the perfect present for a wine geek but any wine collector is going to want it for themselves.

It’s an incredibly ingenious device which enables you to extract a glass of wine from a bottle without pulling the cork and then continue to keep it without the wine deteriorating.

Why would that be useful? Because you can check how a wine is developing without wasting the rest of the bottle. The system works by inserting a fine hollow needle into the cork then withdrawing the wine under pressure from an argon gas capsule. Tricky - to explain but there’s a very clear video on the company website.

A number of top restaurants and wine bars such as Fera, Jason Atherton’s Social Wine & Tapas and, er hem, my son’s restaurant Hawksmoor are using it to enable their customers to taste wines they couldn’t otherwise afford to open - the new model is currently exclusively stocked in Harrods though will be available in other retailers from June. It would be the perfect prize to win for someone with an extensive cellar - you can even chose which colour you want: red, gold or silver. (Personally I rather fancy the red!)
