A gourmet b & b in the Abruzzo
It’s in the unspoilt countryside of the Abruzzo, just over half way down the east side of Italy close to the celebrated mountainside village of Guardiagrele and just 20 minutes drive to the sea. Liz is a splendid cook, a generous host (she recently told me about an English tea party she’d organised for the villagers which involved about 12 different kinds of cakes and sandwiches) and a great deal of fun. The basic offering is bed and board including a fantastic breakfast made with local produce but she’ll cook you dinner on request and can also lay on cookery classes, winery visits, mountain walks or visits to local restaurants on the trabucci, the traditional stilted fishermans’ huts of the region. She’ll even arrange Italian classes if you want to throw yourself wholeheartedly into the Italian experience. Her website will be up shortly but in the meantime the holding page - and contact details - are on www.iltratturello.com |
